Let's get this out of the way right up front: the behavior you're about to see from R. Kelly qualifies as verbal abuse. Period.
No,Ireland he didn't direct his wild burst of emotion directly at his interviewer, CBS This Morning's Gayle King. He did, however, set proverbial fire to the idea that he was there to be interviewed when he pointedly ignored King's questions and shifted his focus to the cameras.
That's where we get a glimpse of what R. Kelly, the alleged serial abuser of women, really looks like. Ignoring King's questions, Kelly rises to his feet and shouts his claim of innocence directly into the camera. His visible anger and physicality is a clear attempt to take control of the moment.

While all of that was playing out, King just sat there trying to calm Kelly down and get the interview back on track. This is what a professional journalist looks like at work.
You're probably going to see clips from this interview surface again and again as Kelly's courtroom battle plays out. As horrifying as it is to see the man transform into the monster he's accused of being right before your eyes, don't overlook King's role in exposing that side of Kelly to the world.
