Warning: This post contains spoilers for the movie Us.
Forget about the Grinch for a second,Tina Tyler Archives because there's a new holiday villain in town.
His name's Jordan Peele and you may know him as the genius writer, director, and producer who brought the world unique and powerful films like Get Out, and most recently, Us.
Peele's thought-provoking, layered movies are known for resonating with audiences long after the end credits roll, which can be super exciting and brilliant. But when he drops a horror movie featuring more than 100 bunnies weeksbefore Easter, it can be a total nightmare.

In the film, it's revealed that the Tethers stayed alive in the tunnels all those years by eating raw rabbit as a form of sustenance. The rabbits in the movie had additional symbolism behind them, but what we know for sure is that whenever the Tethers' aboveground counterparts ate a meal of some sort, they were given rabbit to eat.
Because rabbits are able to reproduce at such an alarmingly fast rate, there was always more than enough to go around. But the whole idea of eating nothing but raw rabbit is extremely cursed and something I'm sure many people wanted to forget about when they left theaters. I definitely did!
Unfortunately, because Easter's approaching and stores are stocking their shelves with themed decorations, chocolates, and bunny merch galore, there's no escaping the bunny-related horror Peele weaved together for viewers. We're surrounded by constant reminders, and it's stressful as hell.

Did Peele specifically time his release with the bunny-centric holiday? Unclear! But as for his thoughts on rabbits, he's not a fan AT ALL either.
"You know what, rabbits, they're supposed to be cute. On paper, they're adorable lovable animals. Have you ever gotten close to a rabbit?" Peele said in an interview with Rotten Tomatoes. "Rabbits, they're — you can tell in their eyes they have the brain of like a sociopath. If you put a rabbit brain in a human body, you have Michael Myers the killer."

So this Easter season, you can attempt to put Adelaide Wilson, her family, and the horror of an America full of doubles behind you, but if you walk by a CVS candy display or a mall Easter Bunny there's a very good chance it'll be triggering.
Until Easter arrives on April 21, or stores take the reduce-priced chocolate bunnies off shelves weeks later, Peele's left us all to wander around in a world that constantly reminds us of the terrifying one he created on-screen.
As if holidays weren't stressful enough already.
