Game of Thronesis going out with a bang (much like the Sept of Baelor, forced anal sex videos zing), and as Season 8 prepares for production, HBO is assembling its finest for the sendoff.
In an interview with The Huffington Post, John Bradley a.k.a. Westerosi hero Sam Tarly, described the final six episodes as "monumental."
"Clearly every single episode of the six you’ve got left in Season 8 is gonna be monumental and needs somebody at the helm who’s done that kind of high-stakes, high-octane direction before for us," he said.

“We assembled a team of directors this year who have been in charge of some of our big episodes in the past,” he said. “Miguel and David have done some of the standout episodes of previous seasons."
Sapochnik helmed heavy hitters like "Hardhome," "Battle of the Bastards," and "The Winds of Winter," while Nutter has directed half a dozen including "A Man Without Honor" and "The Rains of Castamere."
Meticulous fans will notice that three of those were the ninth episodes of their respective seasons. Throneshas a pattern for pulling out all the stops for its penultimate episodes, and that's not by coincidence. According to Bradley, "I think you're gonna get six ‘Episode 9s’" in Season 8 -- six ruthless, spectacular set pieces that could completely change the game moving forward.
In the interview promoting his new film American Satan, Bradley also addressed Sam's most mansplainy moment in Season 7; in the moment "revealing" Jon Snow's true parentage, Sam tells Bran that Rhaegar Targaryen annulled his marriage to Elia Martell -- information that Sam only knows because of Gilly.
"It’s not about him ... taking credit for her idea," Bradley said. "He probably wasn’t even aware of where he heard that information. He just knows he heard it somewhere in the air, and he was able to pick it up and process it."
Sounds like an excuse, Sam, but at least people are finally in the know.
