The erotice harry potterlate, great actor Chadwick Boseman won a posthumous Emmy on Saturday for his voice-acting work in Marvel's series What If...? It was his first Emmy nomination and first win.
The award was handed out during the Creative Arts ceremony. Boseman picked up the award for his voicing a version of T’Challa who was Star Lord in the Marvel show that imagines alternate realities. The actor's widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, accepted the award on Boseman's behalf.
"What a beautifully aligned moment it really is that one of the last things he would work on would not only be revisiting a character that was so important to him and his career and to the world, but also that it be an exploration of something new, diving into a new potential future — particularly with everything he spoke about purpose and finding the reason that you are here on the planet on this very time," she said the crowd at the ceremony, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Boseman died in August 2020 at just 43 years old after a yearslong, private battle with colon cancer.
He gave a stunning performance as T'Challa in Marvel's groundbreaking superhero film Black Panther. This summer Marvel released a trailer for the second installation of Black Panther titled Wakanda Forever. The trailer indicated that T'Challa would be canonically dead in the series, though it's not yet clear which character will now take on the Black Panther role. The film is set to be released later this year on November 11.
