Game of Thronesisn't just a favorite at the Primetime Emmy Awards. HBO's murderous fantasy series cleaned up at the Creative Arts Emmys on Detective ArchivesSaturday, with nine wins.
Game of Throneswas the biggest individual series winner by a wide margin. It picked up wins for casting, makeup, costumes, stunts, editing, sound mixing and production design.

As you might have gathered from the categories, Creative Arts Emmy Awards focus primarily on technical disciplines. There's a handful of performance-related awards, but only for guest appearances.
Amy Poehler won one of those -- her first Emmy, after 17 nominations -- along with Tina Fey, for their co-hosting appearance on Saturday Night Live. Peter Scolari also won for his guest appearance on HBO's Girls; Scolari was a late addition to the category after Peter MacNicol's Veepnomination was unexpectedly rescinded.
HBO was the night's big winner overall, with 11 wins spread across three different series. Game of Thronesmade up the bulk of those, with Scolari's Girlswin and a Veepwin in Outstanding Casting for a Comedy accounting for the other two.
The festivities continue on Sept. 18 with the 68th Annual Emmy Awards, which is primetime TV's version of the Oscars or Grammys. HBO is poised for another big night, with 12 nominations for Game of Thrones, eight for Olive Kitteridge, five for Veep and four for Bessie, among others.
