Kobe Bryant now has an Oscar thanks to everyone who voted for Dear Basketballto win the Academy Award for Best Animated Short.
The Apps Archivesshort is narrated by Bryant and describes his love for the game, per Deadline.
Bryant, who won along with Glen Keane, left a sour taste in many people's mouths with his win on Sunday night, considering the former professional basketball player was accused of rape. Terrible always, and particularly not a great look given the current climate of Hollywood and the Time's Up movement fighting back against men who are accused of sexual assault and harassment.
A 19-year-old accused Bryant of rape in 2003 after he invited her to his hotel room and she left five minutes later, disheveled and with blood on her underwear (via ThinkProgress).
Understandably, people took to Twitter to express their thoughts on the man winning an Oscar in the midst of the Time's Up and #MeToo movements.
