Forever 21 has been called out for controversial T-shirt designs before, but now the clothing store is under fire for selling a shirt that looks extremely similar to Kanye West's Life of Pablo merchandise.
The "For the World" T-shirt by Los Angeles-based company, sdc by Simon de Cyrene, features text in an Old English font on the backside that closely resembles the Life of Pablo merchandise sold at Kanye's "Pablo" pop up shop in Manhattan and on his website.
See for yourself:
As Complex reported, sdc addressed the T-shirt via email, saying, "While it is true that the Yeezy shirt made that particular font/style/design better known to the rest of the world, it's hardly the original."
The sdc representative explained that the, "font and style are an homage to '80s/'90s LA Latino gang memorial graphic shirts/sweatshirts ... that were made using two-inch, iron-on gothic letters."
While the company acknowledged that there are resemblances, sdc shared the belief that both their design and Kayne's merchandise, "are both copying the same source," and explained they, "have nothing to do with Forever 21 -- we just felt it was a good way to make fashionable (and apparently controversial) design accessible to the masses at affordable prices."
Forever 21 isn't the only brand feeling Pablo. Back in January, Zara released a replica of Yeezy Boost 750s and Aldo did the same in March.
