Yes,Thriller Archives yet another site has dropped their year-in-review, but this one isn't individualized (that would be…something to behold). No, Pornhub's Year in Reviewbreaks down the top trends, searches and terms, and events of 2022. There are lots of categories, but it's clear that among women who watch Pornhub, "lesbian" videos are still the dominant pick.
The tube site, owned by industry conglomerate MindGeek, is one of the most trafficked sites in the world. In December 2021, for instance, it raked in one billion viewsthat month alone. Pornhub has changed the adult industryyet, as the Year in Review shows, site categories contain the same fetishization and reduction to identity that proliferates the industry.
Not all porn is this way. More on that below.
In the United States, women account for 29 percent of Pornhub's viewers; that's up four percent from last year. Worldwide, women are 36 percent of viewers, and that's also up four percent from last year.
SEE ALSO: How women squirt on camera, according to porn starsThe top category that women watch is "lesbian," which isn't surprising. "Lesbian" has been the top term with women viewers since Pornhub started tracking the gender breakdown in their 2014 Year in Review. This figure no doubt accounts for some women viewers who like other women, but some straight women like lesbian porn as well. This is because women-only porn can be less aggressive than straight porn; the focus is on women and their pleasure (even though, like all porn, it's a performance for the viewer); and it's more taboo.
Among other favorite categories for women are threesomes; "MILF"; and the "popular with women" category (which, seemingly, just features buff men and sometimes more passionate-looking sex).
Pornhub also dissected which categories and terms were viewed more by women compared to men, with interesting results.
Women searched scissoring 155 percent more than men did in 2022. Pornhub's women viewers were also more interested in porn featuring trans men, solo men, and pussy licking, among many others.
For those who don't like perusing the site but want to get their fill of lesbian or other queer porn, there are alternatives to Pornhub— for free or paid, in video or audio form. Dipsea, for instance, is an audio erotica sites featuring stories written and starred by queer people. If you want to educate yourself as well as get off, there are several NSFW sites that can teach youwhat typical porn doesn't. For instance: the pussy licking on Pornhub is likely shot to give the viewer a good view of the vulva, not to show you how cunnilingusis done.
That being said, here's to another year in review from Pornhub, and even more "lesbian" porn in 2023.
