It soon exploded in popularity and became an international phenomenon, with thousands of players around the globe playing it every day. Some Wordlefans even created alternate versions of the daily word puzzle game, such as battle royale Squabble, music identification game Heardle, and variations such as Dordleand Quordlethat make you guess multiple words at once.
TikTok creators have even live streamed themselves playing Wordle, and the puzzle game eventually grew so big that the New York Times bought it earlier this year.
The best Wordlestarting word is the one that sparks joy for you. However, if your joy is sparked by being strategic, we have a few ideas to help you optimise your first move. This includes choosing a word that has at least two different vowels in it, and ensuring there are a few common consonants such as S, T, R, or N mixed in.
The entire archive of past Wordle puzzlesused to be available for anyone to delve into whenever they wished. Unfortunately this treasure trove has since disappeared, with the website's creator saying its removal was at the New York Times' request.
