If you're anything like me -- i.e. the type of person still worryingly obsessed with Pokémon GOa full 17 months after it was released -- you'll have Secret Affairs: Stepmother Friend’s Mom Daughter in lawalready heard the big news.
After months of waiting, Generation 3 is finally (almost!) here.
SEE ALSO: 'Pokémon GO' has just released one of the most famous legendary PokémonOn Wednesday, the official Pokémon GOTwitter account shared the following update:
This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed.
The title of that update mentions "50 Pokémon from the Hoenn Region".
"Starting later this week, Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, and several more Pokémon originally discovered in the Hoenn region in the Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire video games will start appearing in Pokémon GO for the first time ever," reads the post, "with even more to be discovered over the next several weeks!"
If you ever played Rubyor Sapphireback in the day, you'll know that Gen 3 is a big one -- 135 new critters in total, almost as many as the very first generation and way bigger than Gen 2.
But obviously we're not going to be getting them all at once.
The first thing worth mentioning is that the wording of the update is sort of ambiguous; are we going to be getting 50 this week, then the remaining 80 (minus the five ghost 'mon we already have) over the next several weeks? Or are we only getting a handful this week, with the rest of the first 50 coming in the next several weeks?
It's tricky to say, but personally I'd be surprised if we didn't get a batch of at least 50 all in one go. And if we dig into Pokémon GOsubreddit The Silph Road, we can start to make an educated guess as to which ones are first in line.
Here's a list of the possible Generation 3 Pokémon that might be in the first batch, based on all the 'mon that have appeared in promotional materials so far:
Obviously that list comes with a big caveat, though: just because they appeared in the trailer, it doesn't necessarily mean we'll be getting them anytime soon (Mewtwo, who popped up in the game's original trailer, is a case in point).
As of now, the three starters -- and their evolutionary forms -- are the only new 'mons officially confirmed.
Still -- it won't be long now until we find out about the rest of them.
