It's time to delegate your detergent-buying to your dishwasher.
GE Appliance's newest dishwasher will automatically order detergent when its supply is Karen Foster Archivesgetting low through an integration with Amazon's Dash Replenishment.

Samsung, Whirpool, Oster and other appliance manufacturers all have devices hooked up, but GE's will be the first dishwasher.
The smart dishwasher comes with a hefty price tag of $1,500, compared to GE's other dishwashers, which come in the $600 to $900 range.
GE Appliances also has a connected washing machine that orders laundry detergent through Amazon Dash. The company says the dishwasher makes it the first to have two categories of appliances connected to Amazon.
Integrations with these appliance companies help Amazon further engrain itself in consumers' everyday lives. Amazon Prime subscribers don't have to think about buying detergent anymore, but they're still paying for a Prime membership and ordering from Amazon every few weeks.
This particular integration works through GE Appliance's GE Kitchen app, where dishwasher owners can link their Amazon accounts. Users then select the type of detergent pods they use and enter how many they have right now. From there, the dishwasher will count wash cycles to keep track of when it needs new supplies.
"Dash Replenishment is all about making customers' lives easier and helping ensure they never run out of everyday essentials. With Dash Replenishment, customers can skip a trip to the store and simply depend on their GE dishwasher or washing machine to reorder dish detergent, laundry detergent and fabric softener the moment supplies run low," Daniel Rausch, director of Amazon Devices, said in a statement. "We're thrilled to be teaming up with GE Appliances as it expands its portfolio of appliances that are integrated with Dash Replenishment."
